The Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS)
The AFRIMS-TALAS Exemplary Laboratory Animal Technician Award was initiated in 2011 to recognize the important role of laboratory animal technicians in Thailand. The Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS) was the first institution maintaining laboratory animals in Thailand since 1961. The award ceremony is conducted annually at the TALAS meeting. Each year, the Thai Association for Laboratory animal Science (TALAS) accepts nominations from many research institutions in Thailand and TALAS Committee select the most suitable award recipient. At the ceremony, the recipient receives a plaque from the Director General, AFRIMS and the cash award (20,000 THB cash) from the TALAS President presents.
The candidate must be a member of TALAS.
The candidate must have appropriate educational qualification(s) with suitable LAS certificate(s) recognized at international level, such as AALAS certificates (ALAT, LAT or LATG) or others.
The candidate has worked at the institution for at least 5 years. He or she has consistently performed his or her job diligently, and demonstrated exemplary performance as well as improving his/her knowledge and skill enthusiastically. Supporting document (one-page, A4 paper) from his/her supervisor should be submitted.
The candidate has demonstrated good writing ability such as writing SOPs, taking note of observed animal clinical signs, recording research study results; and contributing in animal care, management or animal research studies by working closely with veterinarians or research scientists. Supporting letter(s) from a veterinarian(s) or a researcher(s) should be submitted, and additional supporting attachments may be provided.
